Midland Realty is expanding its operations in China to seize opportunities arising from the country's imminent entry to World Trade Organisation (WTO). Chairman Wong Kin-yip said there would be growing demand in the residential and office sectors in the next two to three years. Mr Wong expected a significant increase in rentals and prices as more overseas corporations opened and expanded operations in China. Midland had spend about HK$10 million on offices for its headquarters in Beijing early this year. It wanted to expand from nine outlets to more than 15 in key cities.
