Stocking filler from long-time supporter

The folks at Swire Properties have again extended a helping hand to Operation Santa.

The company has been a consistent supporter of the fund-raising drive by the South China Morning Post and RTHK, and has donated $100,000.

Swire Group head of public affairs Andrew Herdman said the firm was encouraged by the broad-based nature of this year's beneficiaries. 'As a regular supporter of Operation Santa Claus, we are delighted that this year's event will benefit not just one but four specialist children's charities,' Mr Herdman said.

This year's funds will go to four local cash-strapped organisations working together in an umbrella group called Growing Together that helps children and young people with disabilities integrate into society through education, training and skills development.

Mr Herdman said he saw how Operation Santa brought several sectors of the community together for a good cause and Swire would continue to be a part of it. 'Hong Kong people pull together every year to support Operation Santa Claus, and once again we are proud to be a part of that collective effort to help under-privileged children in our community,' he said.
