A pro-Beijing figure who condemned a TV show as 'anti-government' will attend a party tomorrow celebrating its return. Xu Simin, 88, a Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference delegate, will be among guests at the RTHK gala marking the return of Headliner. Outspoken rural leader Brian Kan Ping-chee, student leader Gloria Chang Wan-ki and Democratic Party chairman Martin Lee Chu-ming will also attend the party at Centenary Garden in Tsim Sha Tsui East. Headliner was suspended last July amid claims of political pressure, and replaced by the programme Leaders of Hongkong. Headliner was known for its attacks on government policies. An RTHK spokeswoman said: 'There will not be big changes in the editorial policy. The new series of Headliner will be produced by the same team, with the same hosts.' Popularly known as 'Cannon Xu' for his broadsides, Mr Xu has criticised RTHK for refusing to toe the government line. Headliner will be shown on TVB at 7 pm on Fridays.
