Beating problems with an MP3 player

I bought an MP3 player recently from Nike called the Nike psa[play. I bought it because it looked cool, and it came with an armband that made it a real fashion accessory. However, I cannot get it to work. First, I cannot transfer songs on to the player from my PC using the software it came bundled with. Second, the battery life is really short - just a couple of hours - so I find myself changing batteries often. I have a friend who bought a Rio MP3 player and she said she replaced batteries only once in the three months she had it.

The Nike psa[play (yes, that is really its name) had some good reviews from runners when it was released last October. However, while most reviewers put battery life at about eight hours, some models had a software bug that was draining batteries in low-power mode. You can upgrade the player by downloading a patch from http://www.riohome.com/RioSupport.htm.

As for the file transfer, you could have one of several problems.

The most likely is that the software is simply looking for the wrong device, in which case the Nike Audio Manager program will be unable to find the player. Make sure the psa[play is highlighted under View, Options, Portable. If it is not, then select it and restart the Audio Manager. If the device is not listed at all, check the System properties in Windows' Control Panel. The psa[play should appear under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. If it shows up anywhere else or has an exclamation point next to it, you should delete it and try again.
