A controversial mainland 'magic healer', Hu Wanlin, will spend the next 15 years in prison after being found guilty of offering unauthorised medical services and causing the deaths of 146 of his patients.
The faith healer was also fined 150,000 yuan (HK$139,000).
The Henan Supreme Court has upheld the verdict of a Henan intermediate court, according to the Procuratorial Daily.
Hu, 52, reportedly previously served more than 20 years in prison on charges of subversion, human trafficking and fraud in the 1970s and 1980s. After his release in 1997, Hu, from Sichuan, went on to establish hospitals in Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces, promising magic cures with qi gong powers.
His patients poured in after an influential writer reported on his cures.
Hu, with primary school education and no medical training, was hailed as a modern Huatuo - a famous doctor in ancient China.
