Although 32 SEA Games records had been shattered so far, only one has been good enough to break an Asian Games record. That distinction belongs to the Philippines' runner Lydia de Vega-Mercado, whose 23.37-second performance in the women's 200 metres onWednesday not only bettered her own 12-year-old SEA Games record (23.54), but broke the Asian Games mark of 23.42 set by China's Han Qing, in Beijing in 1990.
