A bride in Tsim Sha Tsui experienced a chilly start to married life as temperatures plunged to eight degrees Celsius yesterday - the coldest day this winter.
As the Observatory issued a cold-weather warning, forecasters said there would be no respite until Wednesday. Yesterday Tuen Mun and Tai Po recorded just eight degrees, while urban areas recorded the highest temperatures - 11 to 12 degrees.
Today's temperature was tipped to reach 10 degrees in urban areas, with two to three degrees less forecast for the New Territories. Sunny periods are expected tomorrow and on Wednesday, when temperatures should reach between 16 and 18 degrees.
A man, 78, was suspected to have fallen victim to the cold snap after he was found unconscious in bed by relatives visiting his flat in Oak Street, Tai Kok Tsui. He was certified dead before arriving at hospital.
