I agree with the views expressed by Raymond Chan in his letter headlined, 'Silence and rare beauty threatened' (South China Morning Post, January 15), regarding a proposed iron-ore theme park in Ma On Shan.

This reminded me of recent proposals to build a cable-car system which would have connected High Island Reservoir to Port Shelter and Sai Kung town.
If councillors and government officials really want to preserve and protect the country parks for the right reasons, please just keep your hands off them.
They are treasures just the way they are.
After all, nobody has ever improved the Mona Lisa by making her smile bigger, or the Taj Mahal by adding a couple more minarets.
