Death of Alley Oop creator

VINCENT Hamlin, who created the popular Alley Oop cartoon strip, died at a rest home in Spring Hill, Florida. He was 93.

Alley Oop, a caveman, rode into the comics astride Dinny the dinosaur nearly 60 years ago. Though Hamlin retired in 1971, Alley Oop still appears in 700 newspapers around the world.
