A man who was disturbed while allegedly strangling his wife at home told his teenage son 'not to look', a court heard yesterday.

Ling Kam-wah, 38, has pleaded not guilty in the Court of First Instance to murdering his wife, Ho Wai-chun, 44, in their one-bedroom flat at Mongkok on February 1 last year.

In his opening address, prosecutor Arthur Luk Yee-shun told the court Ling's son, Ling Siu-tong, then 15, heard his father arguing with his mother on the night of her death.

'The son was practising typewriting in the living room when he heard a row break out . . . in the bedroom,' he said.

Mr Luk said when Siu-tong looked into the bedroom he saw Ling 'sitting on top of Madam Ho grabbing hold of her by her neck'. Ling then told his son 'not to look' and to return to the living room, he said.

Mr Luk said Ling later told his son 'not to get involved'.
