It was among the longest-running musicals in both London's West End and New York's Broadway. Having played to more than 28 million people in 12 countries and 71 cities, with more than 18,000 performances in eight different languages, Miss Saigon is finally coming to town.
Produced by Cameron Mackintosh, the show ran for a decade in London and has just finished its run on Broadway. But it is about to embark on an Asian tour and will premiere here on May 18 at the Cultural Centre's Grand Theatre for a 'limited season' before moving to Singapore. Miss Saigon is the last of the 'Big Four' musicals of the past century to be staged in Hong Kong. The others are Cats, The Phantom Of The Opera and Les Miserables. The show is written by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg, creators of Les Miserables.
Performances start from May 18. Tuesday to Sunday at 7.45pm and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2.30pm (there is no matinee on May 19). Tickets start at $295 for matinee performances and $350 for evening shows. Organisers have yet to release full booking details so watch this space.

A sell-out and acclaimed show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe a couple of years ago, this edgy piece of drama by Fifth Amendment and P&S Productions is both intellectually stimulating as well as entertaining. Part of this year's Hong Kong Arts Festival. Performances from Feb 9 to 14 and then 16 to 21 at 8pm, Arts Centre's Shouson Theatre. Tickets at $140, $200 and $240. Urbtix (2734 9011).
