Exiled Chinese Nobel literature laureate Gao Xingjian urged young people not to spend too much time on the computer, as it could not convey genuine intelligence and literature.

'The information [on the Internet] contains only a few sentences. Genuine intelligence, genuine feelings and genuine literature could not be covered by a few sentences.' He said authors should not write novels for commercial reasons, as they would not then produce genuine literature. Gao said before leaving for Taiwan that he was so busy dealing with the media that he had no time to concentrate on his literature.
