More than 80 Junior Police Call (JPC) members and groups have been praised for their services to the community at a prize presentation ceremony of the Hongkong Bank Foundation JPC Awards 2000. Commissioner of Police Tsang Yam-pui; the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Lau Yuk-kuen; and the senior executive of HSBC Tse Man- bun presented the awards. 'JPC activities not only enhance communication between police and young people but also encourage a police-youth partnership in the fight against crime,' Mr Tse said. The award scheme was divided into four categories: the Best JPC Member, the Best JPC Leader, the Best JPC School Club and the Best JPC Council. Shamshuipo's Cheung Mei-kuen was selected the Best JPC Member while Fung Yin-cheung from Eastern emerged as the Best Leader. They were each presented with a commendation trophy and a $8,000 cash award. Holy Trinity College, Shamshuipo had the Best JPC School Club, and won a $13,000 cash award. The Best JPC Council was the Shamshuipo District JPC Council which was given a $21,000 cash award.
