A MAN slashed his neck in the car park of ATV yesterday in an apparent protest against the television station's refusal to broadcast a personal letter.

Wong Man-lee, 21, was persuaded by his elder brother to hand over a 45-centimetre knife at the station's Broadcast Drive compound after 30 minutes.

He was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in fair condition.

ATV's assistant chief executive officer Kwong Hoi-ying said Mr Wong went to the station on Thursday hoping the station would broadcast his letter.

''We told him our main role was to provide entertainment,'' Mr Kwong said.
