Gold thieves thwarted

A jewellery company employee fended off four robbers while delivering 100 taels of gold to his Yau Ma Tei office yesterday.

The man, 35, struggled when hit with water pipes at the corner of Ning Po and Reclamation streets at midday. The gold was in a knapsack he was carrying. The four robbers fled empty-handed when a passerby shouted for help. The victim was treated in hospital for head injuries.
