Director of Education Matthew Cheung Kin-chung appealed to all parents and members of the public to support the education reforms.
He was speaking at the opening ceremony of Belilios Public School's campus video station and fair.
He wanted them to study the consultation document 'The Way Forward in Curriculum Development' and offer their advice on improving the education system.
Mr Cheung said that in the face of globalisation and an increasingly knowledge-based society, we needed to equip our children to face new challenges.
He said schools should keep abreast of world trends and latest developments in the field of education.
'More emphasis should also be put on the key tasks of exten sive reading, project learning, information technology, moral and civic education.
