Hong Kong, Canada join forces to boost Internet learning programmes
Hong Kong and Canada have signed a memorandum of understanding on the promotion and development of Internet learning programmes and applications.
Secretary for Education and Manpower Fanny Law Fan Chiu- fun and Canadian Minister for International Trade Pierre Pettigrew signed the documents.
'Hong Kong and Canada have been working jointly to promote the use of IT in education over the past few years.
'We both share an important belief that our students have to possess the skills to harness the very formidable power of IT which will fundamentally change the way we live and do business in the new millennium,' Mrs Law said.
'Advances in IT have reduced the physical distance between nations and enhanced interaction and co-operation between peoples in this global village,' she said.
The agreement covers an extensive range of joint activities between Hong Kong and Canada.
