Updated at 6.45pm: An alleged attempt to blackmail Asia's richest woman was only a barrister's practical joke, made to satisfy the demands of his ego, a court heard on Thursday.

Thirty-five-year old Thomson Mo Sze-lung and solicitor Ailey Yeung Chin-tat, 30, denied three charges of blackmail, conspiracy to defraud and attempt to obtain property by deception at the District Court.

The court heard Mo pretended to be a Hong Kong Government official and rang Nina Wang Kung-yusum, chairman of Chinachem Group, on June 12 last year. Mo claimed a forensic report of a will produced by Miss Wang during a probate action had aroused suspicions and offered to produce a false report vindicating her point of view in exchange for $10 million.

Ms Wang is contesting her father-in-law Wang Din-shin over an estate left by her missing husband, Teddy Wang Teh-huei.
