But despite doing the business on court before about 1,500 fans, coach Dean Demopoulos says there is much room for improvement on the sidelines - starting with himself.

Demopoulos criticised his own handling of the team, for whom Levy Middlebrooks top-scored with 23 points.

''I coached some very bad basketball,'' he said. ''I did a poor job with the personnel.

''I've got to do much better if we are to win this tournament and I wish I knew what it is I have to do.

''The players are better than that and are capable of better basketball. The other coach out-coached me.'' In another Group B match, Great Wall defeated Korea's Samsung 100-78.
