Nasdaq-listed software developer webMethods expects 15-20 per cent of its revenue to come from Asia within the next two years.

As part of the company's expansion into Asia it has opened an office in Hong Kong to service the Greater China region.

WebMethods expects a lot of business in Asia as companies try to integrate computer networks based on different technologies, to enable them to operate more efficiently.

'A lot of the companies in Asia have these discreet systems which still can't communicate with each other,' said webMethods vice-president Asia-Pacific Thomas Erickson.

WebMethods started its Asian operations by servicing the needs of clients based in the United States.

Many of these clients wanted to generate faster delivery through more efficient communication with their Asian suppliers.
