In an attempt to encourage wireless application protocol (WAP) adoption, German equipment maker Siemens, one of the world's largest makers of WAP-enabled phones, has introduced a wireless information service for business travellers.
The Internet-based service, called Scenic Mobile Travel Platform, aims to help business travellers make planning for their trips easier.
The applications cover all stages of a trip and are divided into pre-, during- and after-trip phases.
Users will be able to obtain travel information, book a trip online, change the route while on the road and get a quote on the final cost of their trip.
The service is accessible via browsers and mobile applications.
Siemens is in the process of signing up some travel agencies, airlines and hotels globally to provide their information such as flight schedules, addresses and contact details for the new WAP platform.
