A mother-of-four forced a friend's daughter to run naked around a park to compensate for injuries her son received while playing with the girl, a court heard.

Ho Ho-nui, 35, ordered the eight-year-old girl to strip off and run twice around Yuen Long Jockey Club Town Square on October 26 last year - while the girl's 36-year-old mother was present.

Ho, a divorced Tuen Mun housewife, had been friends with the girl's mother.

Eastern Court heard the women went shopping on October 26 and left the girl in a Yuen Long cafe with Ho's 10-year-old son and another child. They later learned the children had caused some damage  to the cafe and the son was slightly hurt.

Ho was angry he had been hurt and when the group moved to the park, she forced the girl's mother to make a choice: allow her to beat the girl or force the girl to run naked around the park.

Fearing her daughter would be hurt, the mother opted for the nude run. The girl became upset and refused to strip. The court heard Ho became angry, took off a slipper and ordered the mother to hit her daughter. The mother believed she had no choice but to hit her daughter several times. The girl eventually ran twice around the park naked.

Three hours after the women parted, the mother was called to a park in Tuen Mun by Ho, who asked her for $2,000 compensation for her son's injuries or to allow the boy to beat up the girl. The mother had no money, but reluctantly took her daughter to the park, where the eight-year-old was attacked by Ho's son, the court heard.

The matter came to light when the girl told her story to a social worker. Ho was arrested on November 8, but the next day she told the mother to settle the case or her daughter 'would have no chance to survive'.

The mother later withdrew the complaint, but later told police she had been forced to do so.

Ho pleaded guilty to criminal intimidation, assault and perverting the course of justice.

Raymond Tsui Shiu-wah, for Ho, said she was under pressure raising her four children, aged five to 15. Magistrate Peter Law Tak-chuen adjourned sentencing to April 12, pending reports.
