ESTABLISHED and up-and-coming coaches will be given more recognition in Hongkong through a $250,000 Eagle Star Coaching Programme to be launched in September. More than 6,000 students from about 90 primary and secondary schools will benefit from the programme which will include monthly and annual awards for outstanding coaches, who will get the chance to travel abroad for international congresses. The scheme will kick off with a visit to Hongkong by Lee Smith, the director of coaching for the New Zealand Rugby Football Union, who will conduct four training sessions for coaches. Hongkong Rugby Football Union director of coaching Bryan Hain said: ''We will start the new season with a congress aimed at developing all grades of coaches in Hongkong.'' Bernard de Petrucci, regional managing director of Eagle Star, said: ''The sponsorship is indefinite.''
