I am perplexed about the qualification requirement for a government geotechnical engineer involved in, for example, a site-investigation contract. The Government will accept a geology degree from an applicant. I believe it would make more sense if a geotechnical engineer applicant was required to have a degree in civil or geotechnical engineering, just as a geologist would be required to have a geology degree.
