I refer to John Barclay's letter (South China Morning Post, March 14) complaining about excessive violence in the television programme Healing Hearts, broadcast on ATV Home on March 8.

All broadcasting licensees have to comply with the Broadcasting Authority's codes of practice on programming standards, which include provisions governing, among other things, the portrayal of violence.

The Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority carefully investigated the episode and decided to refer the case to the Complaints Committee of the Broadcasting Authority for consideration at its forthcoming meeting. The Broadcasting Authority's final decision on the case will be released through the press and the Internet.
