Flag carrier Cathay Pacific Airways is scrapping flights between Hong Kong and Zurich because of poor demand.
The airline yesterday said the last flight to Zurich would be on April 28.
'The service is being suspended for commercial reasons. The route has performed relatively poorly over the past few years,' the airline said, adding it would look at resuming the service if the market improved.
However, it would continue to sell seats on the route for six flights a week by code-sharing with the Swiss flag carrier Swissair.
Cathay and Swissair jointly offer 10 flights a week between Hong Kong and Zurich.
Passengers holding bookings after May 1 would be transferred to Swissair or other airlines, Cathay said and analysts believe passengers would not be significantly affected.
