HONGKONG tycoon Li Ka-shing wakes up this morning to find a rabbit threatening his reputation.

The rabbit in question is a logo designed by Chris Joseph, an advertising executive from London, who says his two-year legal battle with one of Mr Li's companies has brought his business to its knees.

Hutchison Telecom, one of Mr Li's companies based in England, is using the rabbit logo to promote its mobile phone system - also called Rabbit.

But the rabbit logo, which looks like a cross between the Playboy bunny and an upside-down 'R', is very much Mr Joseph's creation, and he alleges Hutchison is using it without permission, allegations hotly denied by Hutchison which has launched its own action in return.

Mr Joseph says British people have heard much about Mr Li's honourable nature, so he wants to appeal to Mr Li personally in Hongkong to get the matter settled.

Hutchison officials in the UK were unable to comment.
