Insurer HIH Hong Kong Group has been placed into provisional liquidation and PricewaterhouseCoopers has been appointed as liquidator. HIH Hong Kong is part of a larger group of companies mainly in Australia which have also had provisional liquidators appointed. Four companies offer insurance under HIH Hong Kong - HIH Holdings (Asia), HIH Insurance (Asia), HIH Casualty and General Insurance (Asia) and FAI First Pacific Insurance. Any policy-holders are advised by the liquidators to arrange alternative cover.
