Hong Kong: Seventeen-year-old Yiu Wai-kwan reclaimed her Hong Kong junior record in the women's 10,000 metres at Wan Chai Stadium yesterday in the second round of the Watson's Athletic King Championship 2001, writes Richard Castka. Yiu reclaimed the record after a tactical race against 11-year-old Ng Hei-man, who broke Yiu's record in round one of the same competition in February this year. Although this was the only record to be officially recognised during the two-day competition, Chiang Wai-hung ran faster than To Wai-lok's Hong Kong record in the 200m sprint on Saturday afternoon. The performance was adjudged to have been wind assisted, nullifying the time for record purposes. Chiang drew some consolation by also taking the 100m sprint gold yesterday afternoon, and crossed the finish line just 0.05 of a second outside of his own Hong Kong record. Round three is on June 2 and 3.
