I refer to the letter from G. N. Richardson headlined 'All-night buses cause sleepless nights' (South China Morning Post, March 22) about the noise caused by the operation of all-night buses serving South Horizons.
Route N90 (South Horizons to Central) was introduced in 1994, and route N171 (South Horizons to Cheung Sha Wan) was introduced in 1997. The relevant district councils were consulted beforehand.
The routes were created to meet passenger demand late at night.
The Transport Department has taken note of Mr Richardson's concerns and will examine, with bus companies, the feasibility of adjusting the operation of the night-time bus routes serving South Horizons, with a view to reducing the noise problems affecting residents.
