I recently took a weekend trip to Macau and on my return, stopped at one of the duty-free shops at the Macau Ferry Terminal. Champagne is one of my favourite drinks, so I checked out the champagne display. The shop was selling Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin for just $280 - in Hong Kong shops it usually goes for $350-$400 per bottle. You're only allowed to bring one bottle at a time into Hong Kong and, of course, being a good citizen, I complied.

Oliver's in the Prince's Building has just started selling a wonderful new bakery product - sour cream cake donuts, drizzled with white or dark chocolate ($6). Made by La Rose Noire, the small donuts have a crusty exterior and soft interior, and they're completely delicious. Unfortunately, the other donuts made by the same company are not as good, so if I'm very hungry in the morning, I have to buy a sour cream donut at Oliver's, then go across the street to the Mandarin Cake Shop for a jam donut. The Mandarin Cake Shop also sells excellent apple turnovers, chocolate croissants (even better if you heat them slightly in the oven so the chocolate melts) and chocolate donuts, which are filled with a rich chocolate cream and dipped in dark chocolate.

I don't usually like yogurt because it tastes so acidic, but I love a brand that's available at Oliver's and city'super. The label is in Greek, and I have no idea how to spell or pronounce it. It's available made with cow's milk or sheep's milk. It's thick and creamy, and even though there's no sugar added, it tastes slightly sweet, with just a hint of sharpness. I like it for breakfast with blueberries and bananas, as a healthier alternative to all the donuts and pastries I usually consume.
