Project work shows student creativity

Andy Leung

Parents, teachers and fellow students were greatly impressed by the Project 2001 Presentation of Sacred Heart Canossian College, sponsored by the Quality Education Fund.

Presentations by 108 project groups of Form One to Three students demonstrated the innovative cross-curriculum design and collaborative effort of students and teachers as well as the guidance from the Centre of Educational Development of the Baptist University.

The projects focused on transportation, culture and environment of Hong Kong.

Some interesting topics included 'Do trams have any existence value?', 'Is Falun Gong an evil sect?' and 'Discovery of herbs'. After each presentation, presenters discussed the issue with the audience in a question- and-answer session.

One of the groups did research on Falun Gong and their presentation was extremely resourceful and informative. It provided a detailed coverage on different areas.

Students also presented their projects in very creative ways. For example, one of the groups did a project on Chinese soups. Apart from merely presenting their work with the help of the computer, group members actually served the soup to the audience to let them taste it.
