An accountant who was an Insider Dealing Tribunal member, John Wu Chi-tso, 49, yesterday appeared in Eastern Court but entered no plea on two counts of failing to preserve secrecy under the Securities and Futures Commission Ordinance. It was alleged the offences happened between March 19 and April 14, 1998, over an inquiry into Chee Shing Holdings - now known as Tysan Holdings. The court heard the tribunal was to probe insider dealing allegations in Chee Shing shares. Wu allegedly discussed the matter with Siu Kam-kan and later gave Francis Cheung Nim-chee, now chairman of Tysan, a copy of another tribunal member's notes. Magistrate Henry Mierczak adjourned the case to May 11 for transfer to the District Court.
