I REFER to Mrs Wong Tse Lai-kuen's complaints (South China Morning Post, June 15 and 16) that she had not received the autopsy report on her husband, Mr Wong Wai-wah, from this hospital, since Mr Wong passed away in 1992.

We have investigated the case, and according to our records, Mr Wong's wife submitted the request for the autopsy report only in March 1993, almost a year after the death of her husband.

She did not make any complaints about the medical treatment nor that her husband had received a heart operation using ox tissue heart valve.

The request was handled just like any other request for an autopsy report and was passed on to the Anatomical and Cellular Pathology Department for a report.

Since Mr Wong passed away in May 1992, extra time was required to retrieve his previous records and examination results to prepare for the report. Meanwhile, because of the Hospital Authority (HA) takeover, there has been continuous staff movement among the general grade staff.

The staff employed by the Government have been gradually replaced by HA staff, who need time to adapt to the new working environment and to be trained up.
