Brooks no fool
Since Lane Crawford's senior vice-president of sales and marketing, Bonnie Brooks, announced her resignation, her telephone has been ringing off the hook. Brooks, who has overseen store operations, marketing and merchandising for the store, will be leaving at the end of June to pursue 'other opportunities', about which she is apparently excited. Meanwhile, the powers-that-be are still deciding who should fill her shoes.
Brand new
Margaretta Leung, who recently completed an eight-month tenure as PR person for Chanel, seems to have lined up her next project. Leung says she will be setting up a company with two friends - and they have already landed the franchise of a French accessories brand for Hong Kong and the mainland. Leung can't disclose the name yet, but says it is 'a famous French brand that has existed in Europe for the past 25 years'. And we thought the best labels were already here.
Vive la difference
If you were wondering what all the fuss was about at the Landmark Atrium recently, it was because another French brand was celebrating yet another makeover. This time it was Lanvin's turn to party - which it did with cocktails and a jazz band - because it has just changed the interior of its Landmark store from traditional wood and Lanvin blue to modern white and silver. The company did the same at its Pacific Place store last year, and celebrated with a fab party at Petrus in the Island Shangri-La.
