'Yurt', when not denoting a Mongolian tent, is the name of Michelle Chan's shop in Wing Fung Street, Wan Chai. A Eurasian born in Cambodia, Chan has spent almost 10 years in Hong Kong and speaks numerous languages. She designs a variety of items, from children's clothes to lighting fixtures.

Hair: styled by David at Jacques Dessange. 'Upkeep of hair is very important.'

Makeup: 'I wash my face with water and wear little makeup. My only luxury is lipstick, and the two best are by Chanel and Dior, which I have been wearing for 20 years.'

Earrings: diamond studs bought in Hong Kong 15 years ago.

Shirt and trousers: her own designs for the Yurt label.

Underwear: white cotton pants by Zimmerli of Switzerland.

Shoes: Bought on a Beijing street. 'I like them because they are handmade. You can wear them with anything and they give you some attitude. They are most fashionable.'
