Veronica Lai from Convoy NPL Financial Services Ltd won the Outstanding Sporty Look Award in yesterday's third annual Dress Sporty Day, which organisers expect will raise more than last year's $1.5 million.
About 18,000 people took part in the SAR-wide fundraising event for the Sports Aid Foundation and the Sports Aid for the Disabled Funds. The money will help pay for the training and competition expenses of 248 elite athletes. Sports Development Board chairman John Hung said millions of dollars were needed to help produce Hong Kong's next sporting superstars.
People from all walks of life - from primary school students to SAR Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa, Chief Secretary for Administration Donald Tsang, Financial Secretary Anthony Leung and Secretary for Justice Elsie Leung - took part in the annual event.
