Zoe found her working life was ruling the when, where and how of her shopping life, so a year ago she started shopping online. Many of her colleagues, including Stanley, have followed suit. 'At first I was just buying books from Amazon.com; now I also order clothes from many other American dot-coms,' said Zoe, who records and mixes soundtracks for commercials in a Hong Kong post-production house. 'We usually order in bulk to save on shipping,' said Stanley, who described his job as 'pre-editing preparation' for video.
'I can find simple and comfortable, and less common, items on the web, with the time to choose what I want without haggling with hard-selling salespeople,' said Zoe. For those cautious about disclosing credit-card numbers on the net, she added: 'order only from bigger stores and the sites you trust, and use your lowest-limit card'.
