Updated at 2.31pm: A boy had a narrow escaped after five men attacked him in Kau To Hill, a luxury residential area in Sha Tin, on Tuesday morning.
The teenage boy was on his way to school in a chauffeur-driven people carrier on Hung Kiu Lane when two vans ambushed the vehicle, blocking off escape from both behind and front.
''Five masked men wearing caps appeared. They smashed the windscreen of the car with a hammer and tried to drag the boy out,'' said a police spokeswoman.
The boy escaped and the men beat the fifty-something chauffeur before they made away in one of the vans.
A blue van was abandoned by the attackers at the scene. No one has been arrested so far.
The boy and the chauffeur, sustaining minor injuries, were sent to hospital.
