Renowned vocal ensemble to perform programme of old favourites

The 60-voice Notre Dame Glee Club is one of the outstanding collegiate male choruses in the United States, combining the rich traditions of Notre Dame with high standards of musical excellence.

The club's wide-ranging concert repertoire includes renaissance, romantic and contemporary choral works, as well as spirituals, folk songs and the ever-popular Notre Dame school songs. Presented by Kaplan Educational Centre, the performance will be staged in theAssembly Hall, 4/F, YMCA, 41 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui from 2 pm to 4 pm on June 9.

Tickets at $100 are available at Kaplan Educational Centre, 1/F, Chi Wo Commercial Building, 20 Saigon Street, Jordan, Kowloon. The performance is free for Kaplan students.

After the concert, members of the club will form a panel to discuss with the audience, especially students, how to maximise their high school years in preparation for college, how to determine which college is right for them, how to navigate the application process, and share experiences of college life.

Chinese music virtuosos Lui Pui-yuan, Ng Hiu-hung (pictured) and Zhang Weiliang, will perform a recital for four Chinese winds and strings in the City Hall Theatre at 8 pm on June 9. The concert is one of the highlights of the Chinese music series. Lui, who lives in the United States, is the guqin and pipa soloist. Ng, from Hong Kong, will perform the zheng solo, and Zhang, from China, will give the xiao performance. The programme includes traditional musical pieces as well as modern adaptations, including Concord (xiao solo), The Pink Lotus (zheng solo), Spring Snow (pipa solo) and Moonlight on the Spring River (pipa, xiao and zheng ensemble).
