A giant snake, thought to be a deadly king cobra, has forced a Discovery Bay kindergarten to close while experts try to block its return.
The snake may have been driven from its natural home by heavy rain.
Students at the Discovery Mind kindergarten in Coastline Villa were evacuated on Tuesday after a teacher saw the snake disappearing into the roof of a toilet.
Police were called and the kindergarten was closed. A police spokeswoman said officers saw the two-metre snake heading up a nearby hill.
The kindergarten remained closed yesterday while catchers and security guards looked for the snake, which experts believe could be the highly poisonous king cobra.
Bosco Chan Pui-lok, senior conservation officer at the Kadoorie Farm Botanic Garden, said: 'From the description, it could be a cobra, or even a king cobra, but it could also be a rat snake.'
