I wonder why more Hong Kong people do not feel the need to do something meaningful for the general community. On average, about 700 people donate blood daily. This cannot meet the daily needs of patients requiring transfusions during operations. There is an urgent need for the Hong Kong Red Cross to try and encourage more citizens to give blood. Perhaps it could even say people could give their blood to be stored in the blood bank and be available for their own use if, in future, they required an operation. Giving blood is not just the right thing to do, it is also the smart thing. KWOK TAK-MING Kowloon
