Money bags
This must be the latest in hi-tech versatility: Tod's new computer bag comes with a pochette (a small purse to the rest of us) which doubles as an evening bag - perfect for those overseas business trips. And only $14,000. If that's too much for you, how about the Carre Shopper bag for $7,800? That's not to be confused with the Shopping Bag, a snip at $8,450, and worth every cent, we're told, because it's made with the kind of stitching usually reserved for saddles. 'VIPs' raved about the new range at a preview recently, so of course there is now a waiting list. Expect to see them in August.
Get fresh
Joyce in New World Tower has had a makeover and is now presenting a brighter and fresher face to the world. New paint and touches of stone and glass are among the subtle changes made in time for the new season (once those summer sales are over, of course).
Wedding excess
What must have felt like the most drawn-out nuptials in Hong Kong history have finally come to an end. Jerome Leung and Karen Loh - niece of Anson Chan Fang On-sang - began celebrating six months ago with a party in the lobby and coffee shop of the Regent hotel. The register dinner was in March, the wedding banquet in Hawaii in April and the finale was a couple of weeks ago at the Grand Hyatt, where guests were 'oohing and aahing' over the 'mega-expensive' Chinese menu, said someone who was there. As for the clothes, the bride commissioned Barney Cheng to make a V-necked, duchesse satin lace wedding gown (right), another in pink, draped chiffon lace and a red, bias-cut evening dress for the formal occasions (far right), as well as three twin-sets for the more casual events. Next up the aisle: Carol Cheng, scion of the publicly-listed Wing Tai Group, in Singapore. She has apparently ordered a sequinned cheongsam featuring a faux bib necklace, as well as a lemon strapless ballgown which she intends to pair with a very real set of enormous emeralds.
