A wealthy divorcee testified yesterday she had been subjected to a series of threats by an admirer who stalked her after torching her Ferrari.

But Jocelyn Rivera Tan, who was giving evidence by video link because she said she was a 'witness in fear', denied defence claims in the District Court she once carried her alleged stalker's baby.

Ms Tan, 37, said she received a phone call from transport worker Yeung Kwai-kuen, 36, warning her that her Ferrari would be set alight just days before it was torched on November 16. She then received a series of calls from Yeung, who told her 'you know what I will do next'. Ms Tan, who previously told the court she and Yeung were more than friends, yesterday said: 'I think he was interested in me, but I ignored him. And because of this, he was angry and he set fire to my car, threatening me.'

Defence counsel John McLanachan told the court their relationship was much more intimate and put to her that she had not only been living with Yeung but also became pregnant by him.

Mr McLanachan said Ms Tan fell pregnant in 1999 and Yeung accompanied her when she went for a medical check-up because she thought he was the father. Ms Tan disputed this. 'I was pregnant, but the father was not him.'

The court earlier heard that on December 4 last year, Yeung followed Ms Tan from Tsim Sha Tsui to her home in Sai Kung. She said she saw him holding what appeared to be a pistol and claimed he shot at her Lexus car.
