The Jockey Club has delved into its reserve for today's final meeting of the season and topped up the Triple Trio pool, which is estimated to reach $90 million by the close of betting. It would be no surprise to see the pool exceed expectations given that this is the last opportunity to land a big jackpot until the new season opens on September 2. The best strategy for today appears to be to load up with more runners in the opening leg, which looks particularly difficult. It is suggested that a double banker is used in each of the two remaining legs, as the fourth event in particular can be narrowed down to fewer legitimate chances. The other advantage of taking more early selections is the attraction of a consolation which, judging by the difficulty of today's key races, could pay a handsome dividend. In the opening leg, choosing one banker with five legs is advisable as it looks a very difficult event and could well knockout the majority of players. Aficionado appears to be holding his form better than most and should make the frame, so he is the banker selection. Happy Eclipse should enjoy a good run through the race from barrier three and will appreciate the step up in distance. Sai Kung Star must be included as he is likely to set the pace and, judging on his last effort, may be hard to catch. Fortune Sallian made up considerable late ground last time and could figure in the finish. Highlight moved quite well in a recent barrier trial and could be a good value chance. Speedy Champion may not have been suited by the yielding track on his last start and can be given another chance. Convergence and Danriva look a cut above the rest in the 1,400-metre second leg and should be taken as a double banker with three legs. Mascot Treasure has solid form over course and distance and must be given a good chance of making the frame. Tom's First has a tough assignment taking on open company in only his second start, but he could well be a top-class horse in the making and has to be included. Prime Vain is another consistent sort and could make the frame. The final leg is also quite difficult, but a double banker can be used again with Chiu Chow Brother and Chirag fitting the bill. Chiu Chow Brother has indicated above-average potential in this grade, while Chirag looks well handicapped and should appreciate the application of blinkers. The two legs that can be included are The Best Winner, who will be more effective over this trip, and Aspiration, who appears to be holding his form rather well.
