I understand that it is the Government's policy to encourage residents to exercise and make use of the country parks.
This message, however, does not appear to have got through to the Transport Department, which has recently introduced paid parking with a maximum stay of two hours at the only public car park at Tai Mei Tuk.
This obviously allows insufficient time for those wishing to hike around Plover Cove Reservoir, or on the Pat Sin Range, or to cycle or sail - all popular pastimes in the area.
I urge the department to review this decision as there is patently plenty of scope to at least designate some of the parking spaces for four, eight or even 12-hour stays. If this is done then shorter-term parkers could be prohibited from using these spaces.
