More traffic
With its people travelling more, Asia-Pacific will lead global air traffic growth over the next few years - but its airports need large amounts of money to cope with heavier use, transportation experts said. The volume of passengers going through Asia-Pacific airports will grow by an average of 7 per cent each year over the next five years - well above the worldwide average of 5.8 per cent, said Ranjit Murugason, head of global transportation at ABN Amro corporate finance. He said China would see the biggest growth, with the number of people passing through its airports rising to five times the present level over the next 20 years.
