The DAB has pressed for the development of transport links between the SAR and the Pearl River Delta region as part of its $32.7 billion pre-Budget requests to the Financial Secretary.
The SAR economy would benefit from the construction of an express highway and a high-speed rail link, the chairman of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong, Tsang Yok-sing, said.
Setting up a checkpoint at Sheung Shui with an express train to Shenzhen would also relieve pressure at the Lowu checkpoint.
'Both the Hong Kong and mainland governments should also discuss how to further make use of the air space to develop transportation services by small planes,' it said in its submission to Antony Leung Kam-chung.
The DAB listed 76 areas to increase spending, including trade, employment, tourism, social welfare, environmental protection, education, housing, medical and health care and information technology.
The party suggested spending more on tourism to create jobs, including turning the West Kowloon reclamation area into a restaurant zone.
