Primary, secondary students receive subject prizes in international assessments programme
More than 200 outstanding students from different schools received awards and certificates at a prize presentation ceremony at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
'International Assessments for Schools 2001'' was brought to a successful end at its prize presentation ceremony held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on June 12th, where more than 200 students from different schools received their awards and certificates.
'International Assessments for Schools 2001'' The assessment was conducted by the Educational Testing Centre of the University of New South Wales of Australia in collaboration with the Hong Kong Po Leung Kuk. which has been undertaking this annual project since 1997.
This year, a total of 36,700 students from more than 130 schools participated in the programme. had taken part in the assessment process.
Po Leung Kuk chairman Woo Wai-man encouraged the prize-winners to develop their full potential and be life-long learners. 'This assessment is actually far more than just a competition. It helps participants to understand more about their academic strengths and weaknesses and plan for improvement. To all prize winners, I hope you will continue to achieve your greatest potential and become a lifelong learner. Learning doesn't finish when you leave school because there is always something new and interesting in your life to discover,'' said Mr. Woo.
'Learning does not end when you leave school because there is always soemthing new and interesting you will discover in your life,'' he said.
Mr Woo added that the assessment was more than a competition. He said it helped participants to identify their own strengths and weaknesses so they could improve.
