(EMI) It seems that just about everybody has jumped aboard the Bran Van for this album which stretches the word eclectic to extreme limits. Curtis Mayfield, Dimitri from Paris and Yossou N'Dour all put in appearances, while the mix is overseen by Oasis and Madonna producer Mark 'Spike' Stent with British garage guru MJ Cole lending a hand. Bran Van 3000 is the brainchild of Canadian video director and musician James 'Bran Man' di Salvio. Together with his collective of musicians and guest performers he set out to create a mix album spanning every genre. And the songs couldn't be more different. The album slides from a smooth dance track mixed with an a cappella of Mayfield's Astounded, to Senegalese world music star N'Dour on Montreal and into rapper Big Daddy Kane on the title track, which also features Dimitri from Paris. Reggae singer Eek-A-Mouse adds humour to Go Shopping, while the ever-provocative Momus gives More Shopping the feel of Pulp-style soap-opera pop. There's something for everyone over these 17 tracks and even though it criss-crosses genres with breakneck speed, it's impeccably mixed. If you like having your ears fed with a smorgasbord of sound, Discosis is another great party album for your summer collection.
